Fundamentalists Anonymous was founded in 1985 by Jim Luce and Richard Yao to help people whose lives had been harmed by religious fundamentalism. Before the Web existed, its story played out in newspapers, magazines, and national television — from The Phil Donahue Show to the fall of the PTL empire and the fight to have “religious addiction” recognized by the psychiatric profession. FA’s most active years were 1985–1989, and the organization wound down in 1992. This site is being rebuilt as the definitive archive of that history.
